Tooth Decay Repair

Due to increased patient awareness and use of fluoride treatments, incidence of tooth decay have been on the decline. Despite this trend, teeth are still vulnerable. Decay, infection and damage requires professional dental treatment. Rest assured, should your teeth ever require a restorative treatment, we will always present your available options, discuss with you and recommend what we believe to be the most comfortable and least invasive treatment. Our highest priority is to provide you high quality care. To us that means modern and effective treatments that will restore your tooth back to its normal shape, appearance and function, and to keep you in your beautiful smile.

Types of tooth restoration

Reasons for restorations are many and individual, but in general are due to tooth decay; desire for enhanced function, fit and/or form of teeth, bite and preexisting dental treatments; or to prevent the loss of a tooth. Dental complications, such as decaying, broken or missing teeth, can have long term effects on your dental health and appearance. We offer the following three restorative treatments:

    • Composite fillings- a tooth-colored filling used to repair a tooth that is effected by decay, cracks, fractures, chips or to affect the appearance of small or worn teeth
    • Crowns(caps)- a covering that protects, strengthens and provides shape for a tooth that cannot be restored with fillings
    • Fixed Bridges- a fixed appliance used to replace missing teeth

what can I expect from my appointment?

Composite fillings are usually placed in one appointment, while crowns and fixed bridges take two or more visits. You will be given care instructions at the conclusion of your treatment. It is normal to experience sensitivity to hot and cold when composite fillings are first placed, however this will subside shortly after your tooth acclimates to the new filling.

Good oral hygiene practices, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of both your regular teeth and your restorations. Remember to give your teeth the attention they need today!
